This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal, and the strategic partnership of cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship for development and prosperity between the two countries faces new opportunities for growth. China is ready to summarize successful experiences with Nepal, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and jointly create a better and more glorious China-Nepal relationship for the next 70 years.

Nepal-China relations are based on friendship, equality, and respect. She expressed gratitude for the valuable assistance provided by the Chinese side to Nepal’s national development and the improvement of people’s livelihoods over the years. Nepal firmly abides by the one-China principle, supports the policy of “One Country, Two Systems”, and will never allow any force to use Nepal’s territory to engage in activities that harm China’s interests. Wang Yi Meets with Swiss Federal Councillor and Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis
May 30 (MFA) — On the afternoon of May 30, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Hong Kong with Swiss Federal Councillor and Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, who attended the signing ceremony of the Convention on the Establishment of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed).
Wang Yi said that Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis’s special trip to Hong Kong to attend the event demonstrated both his personal and Switzerland’s support for the establishment of the IOMed. It also reflected Switzerland’s positive attitude as a neutral country in practicing multilateralism and supporting the resolution of differences through dialogue and consultation. The Chinese side commends Switzerland for leveraging its role as a “bridge-builder” in international affairs and looks forward to working with the Swiss side to enhance communication, collaboration and experience sharing in areas such as dispute resolution through the new platform of the IOMed. Efforts should be made to ensure the successful development and operation of the IOMed, the first intergovernmental organization specialized in mediation, enabling it to interact and reinforce mutually with arbitration and judiciary, while jointly practicing multilateralism and upholding international fairness and justice.
Wang Yi said that the successful practice of “One Country, Two Systems” in Hong Kong has effectively promoted social stability and economic development in the region. He expressed the hope that Switzerland will deepen exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong across various fields to achieve mutual benefits and win-win outcomes. Wang Yi also introduced the recent high-level meeting on economic and trade affairs between China and the United States in Geneva and expressed appreciation for the facilitation provided by Switzerland.
Ignazio Cassis extended congratulations on the successful signing ceremony of the Convention on the Establishment of the IOMed, describing it as a significant step toward resolving differences through mediation and a new area of cooperation between Switzerland and China. He said that today’s world is full of uncertainties and called for a greater role from China. Switzerland is honored to contribute to the China-U.S. high-level meeting on economic and trade affairs in Geneva, and is willing to maintain a positive approach toward China and advance Switzerland-China relations by taking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity.
The two sides also had an exchange of views on international and regional issues such as the Iranian nuclear issue and the Ukraine crisis.
Wang Yi Meets with Chairman of Asian Peace and Reconciliation Council Surakiart Sathirathai

Wang Yi said that China and Thailand are as close as one family, and the friendship between the two countries has grown stronger. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand and the “Golden Jubilee of China-Thailand Friendship”. The two sides should follow through on the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhance strategic synergy, advance practical cooperation, and jointly usher in the next golden 50 years of building a China-Thailand community with a shared future.
Wang Yi said that China’s initiative to establish the International Organization for Mediation provides the international community with a new option to resolve disputes and achieve reconciliation on a voluntary basis. It is also a concrete action to practice multilateralism and uphold the spirit of the United Nations Charter. China is ready to work with other Asian countries to make good use of regional mechanisms such as China-ASEAN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, and the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, so as to jointly safeguard the hard-won peace and stability in Asia.
Surakiart Sathirathai expressed his honor to be invited to Hong Kong to witness the birth of the International Organization for Mediation. Under the current international circumstances, China’s initiative is timely and receives positive responses and broad support from all sides. Multilateralism is the way forward for human society. The Asian Peace and Reconciliation Council shares similar ideas and common goals with the International Organization for Mediation.
