  1. 1. I’ve traveled all over the world (six times in Xinjiang). I can confirm that few countries treat their ethnic minorities as well as China, Uighur included.
    2. I’ve been following China’s socioeconomic development for more than 40 years. Except Ningxia, I’ve visited everywhere else. I’ve never ceased to be amazed by China’s socioeconomic progress. Over the past 40 years, it has risen from among the world’s poorest to the world’s No 2 or indeed No 1 in terms of purchasing power parity (PPP). In technology too, it’s among the top in many key fields. In 1980, China was neck and neck with India in GDP per capita. It’s now over five times ahead.
