Countries around the world that are in the forefront of building socialism and struggling against imperialism sent warm greetings to the People’s Republic of China on the 72nd anniversary of its founding on 1 October. We are pleased to present some highlights below.
Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
The leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Comrade Kim Jong Un congratulated his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping as follows:
“On behalf of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the Government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Korean people, and on my own behalf, I extend warm congratulations to you, Comrade General Secretary, and to the Communist Party of China, the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the fraternal Chinese people on the occasion of the 72nd founding anniversary of the PRC.
“For 72 years after the founding of the PRC, the Chinese people have achieved great successes in the struggle to carve out the destiny of the nation and bring prosperity under the leadership of the CPC, braving all sorts of challenges and difficulties of history.
“The Chinese people entered a historic course for attaining a fresh goal of building a modern socialist country after having comprehensively built up a moderately prosperous society.
“As comrades and friends, we are pleased as our own with the successes achieved in socialist China.
“I believe that the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation will surely come true as there are devoted efforts of the Chinese people rallied around the CPC with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core as well as the socialist idea with Chinese characteristics for the new times.
“The WPK, the DPRK Government and people will firmly support the Chinese Party, Government and people in their just struggle to defeat the frenzied confrontational moves by the hostile forces against China and defend the sovereignty, right to development and territorial integrity of the country.
“Today, the two Parties and the two countries are demonstrating the comradely unity by strengthening strategic and tactical cooperation in the common struggle for advancing the cause of socialism and defending the regional peace and stability.
“I am convinced that the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the DPRK and the PRC will steadily develop in conformity with the common desire of the two Parties and the peoples of the two countries, in the future, too.
“I sincerely wish you, Comrade General Secretary, good health and greater successes in your work.
“I also wish the PRC prosperity and the Chinese people happiness and well-being.”
Vietnam
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue sent congratulatory messages to General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Li Zhanshu.
Congratulating China on its achievements over the last 72 years, the Vietnamese leaders expressed their belief that under the CPC’s leadership with General Secretary and President Xi at the core, the Chinese people will successfully fulfill the strategic goals and tasks set at the 19th National CPC Congress and take firm steps forward to realise the “Second Centenary Goal”, which is to build China into a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful.
They affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State, and people always attach importance to developing Vietnam-China relations in a healthy and stable manner. They are ready to join China in enhancing equal and mutually beneficial cooperation, promoting the stable and sustainable development of the two countries’ comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and development.
Laos
Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith sent a message of congratulation to Xi Jinping reading:
“On the occasion of the 72nd founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the Lao multi-ethnic people and on my own behalf, I would like to extend warmest and best wishes to comrade and through comrade to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the entire fraternal Chinese people.”
President Thongloun expressed his happiness for witnessing that since the founding of the People’s Republic of China on October 1st, 1949, under the clear sighted and creative leadership of the Communist Party of China, the fraternal Chinese people have written new chapter in history of national development, making major, comprehensive and firm achievements in building socialism with Chinese characteristics.
“The People’s Republic of China has recorded a great miracle and leapfrog growth, strong political stability with society enjoying order and peaceful harmony, strong and modernised defence and public security forces, fast and constant economic growth, remarkable achievements in poverty reduction for hundreds of millions of people. The role and influence of China are rising in both the regional and international arenas,” said President Thongloun.
He highlighted China’s achievements in recording the first centenary goal in building a prosperous society in all aspects of China and noted that the achievements the Party, government and fraternal people of China have made over the past 72 years have laid a strong foundation and new momentum for the continuation of building socialism with Chinese characteristics and a strong foundation for achieving the second centenary goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects by the middle of the century.
The President said that the Party, government and people of Laos uphold and attach importance to their cooperation with the Party, government and fraternal people of China and are extremely proud of witnessing that 60 years of diplomatic relations, traditional relations, comprehensive, and strong and long-lasting strategic partnership in line with the Four Good principle and based on the Laos-China partnership with shared destiny, are bringing concrete benefits to people of the two countries.
He spoke highly of the progress of major cooperation projects of the two countries including the Laos-China Railway Project which is scheduled to be opened to traffic in December this year noting that these projects are bringing great benefits for Lao people.
He also expressed gratitude to the Party, government and people of China for providing priceless assistance to the Lao people over the past years, especially for dispatching experts, medical team along with medical equipment and million doses of vaccines to the Lao PDR to support the prevention and containment efforts against Covid-19 in the country.
Cuba
The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel congratulated People’s China on its 72nd Anniversary, referring to the existence of China as a guarantee of balance, multilateralism, and peace.
Also, in a letter sent by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Gerardo Peñalver Portal to Chinese ambassador in Havana Ma Hui, he reiterated Cuba´s commitment to work in defense of multilateralism, the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
In the letter, Portal described the establishment of the new China as a significant event in the history of humankind.
Similarly, Peñalver Portal recalled 61 years of diplomatic relations between Cuba and China.
“Cuba is honored to have been the first nation in the Western Hemisphere to recognise, in 1960, the Government of the People’s Republic of China as its only legitimate representative, as well as to have fought for over a decade, along with other developing countries, for the restoration of China´s representation at the UN,” he wrote.
Venezuela
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Comrade Nicolás Maduro, issued a statement congratulating President Xi Jinping on the 72nd anniversary.
Through his Twitter account, Maduro wrote: “Venezuela sends its embrace to President Xi Jinping and his heroic people for the 72nd Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Our gratitude and admiration for the courage and clarity with which you have turned this beautiful nation into a world power.”
Comrade Maduro’s full statement reads in full as follows:
“The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, on behalf of all Venezuelans, congratulates President Xi Jinping on the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. This historic moment marks the true independence and the restoration of the dignity of that combative nation under the leadership of the Great Helmsman Mao Zedong and the Chinese Communist Party that paved the way to socialism, representing the vanguard for the construction of a better world on the basis of peace, cooperation, mutual benefit, equality between states, and the principle of non-intervention.
“This commemoration is a propitious moment to acknowledge the solidarity of the government of the People’s Republic of China with the Venezuelan people and the Bolivarian government in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been decisive for the management and prevention of this scourge in Venezuelan territory. On this historic day, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela ratifies its support for the Chinese sister nation in the face of the politicisation of the pandemic and its instrumentalisation to attack the country that has cooperated the most worldwide to combat this evil that stalks all peoples of the planet.
“Committed to the Charter of the United Nations, multilateralism, and international law, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela accompanies China in the defence of its sovereignty, as well as in its rejection of external interference and attacks that seek to stop the development of its sister nation.
“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, reiterating the best wishes for the industrious and gallant Chinese people, reaffirms its willingness to continue accompanying China in the construction of historic cooperation programmes such as the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as in the Community of Common Destiny for humanity.”
Belarus
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko extended greetings to his Chinese counterpart:
“Over 72 years, China has achieved truly great achievements and is now entering a qualitatively new stage of its development. Beijing has offered the world wise initiatives: the Belt and Road initiative, the community of common destiny for mankind, the community of common health for mankind, thus proving that it links the lives and interests of its people with the harmonious development of all people.”
“Thanks to your personal attention, the bilateral relations of our countries are developing in a constructive and stable way, not only at the interstate, but also at the regional level. I am pleased to mark the start of the Year of Regions of Belarus and China, another one of our joint agreements,” the president stressed.
Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out that the Great Stone joint industrial park has been constantly expanding with new high-tech enterprises and residents.
“In the current difficult times, Minsk and Beijing continue effective cooperation in the fight against the pandemic and its consequences. The Belarusian people are grateful to their Chinese friends for providing a vaccine against COVID-19,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
The president expressed his confidence that together the countries would be able to withstand any challenges in international security. “Our countries will continue supporting each other on the most important issues that meet the fundamental interests of the Belarusian and Chinese peoples,” the head of state stressed.
Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Xi Jinping strong health and happiness, and also peace and prosperity to all citizens of China.
Syria
The official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) published a commentary, stressing that the cooperation between the two countries is based on the Silk Road spirit:
“On October 1st, the People’s Republic of China celebrates the 72nd anniversary of the national day which turns today into the second largest economy, biggest trading state, the first investment destination in the world, and the largest trading partner for 120 countries and regions.
Syria and the People’s Republic of China maintained their stable development, and the two countries continued the exchange of support in different issues and working on developing friendly relations between them.
“During the terrorist war to which Syria was exposed, the communication continued between the two countries in different domains, as China supported Syria in its war against terrorism when using the veto ten times at the UN Security Council and called for a political process led by Syrians themselves and appealed to the international community to remove all unilateral coercive measures and the economic blockade imposed on Syria.
“China’s stance is firm in supporting Syria’s efforts to preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity in addition to exchanging official visits and delegations between the two countries, the last of which was the visit of China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Damascus last July, in a clear message to the world that China supports the Syrian government and its people and rejects any foreign intervention in Syria’s domestic affairs.”
Bolivia and Mexico
The Bolivian President, Luis Alberto Arce also congratulated Xi Jinping, and the people of China. Arce also mentioned in his tweet that Bolivians pay tribute to Mao Zedong and the revolutionary heroes, who built a prosperous country, admired throughout the world.
The government of Mexico stated that both countries are united for mutual cooperation and benefits for their people. The Mexican Ambassador to China Jesus Seade also shared a message congratulating China on its anniversary and expressed the wish to celebrate their millenary cultures and ties of commerce and friendship for hundreds of years.
