July 19 marked the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista Popular Revolution in Nicaragua, with the centrepiece being a massive nighttime celebration in the capital Managua.
Numerous representatives attended from friendly countries, including China, Russia, Palestine, Vietnam, Venezuela, Cuba, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Honduras, Burkina Faso, Algeria, Belarus, Türkiye, and others.
Anti-imperialism was a central theme running through the keynote speech delivered by President Daniel Ortega. The key points were summarised by US anti-imperialist journalist and political analyst Ben Norton in a post on X (Twitter) as follows:
- Nicaragua offers its full support for Palestine, and unflinching opposition to the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza.
- Nicaragua strongly supports Iran in its defence against US-Israeli aggression.
- Fascism has its roots in European colonialism. The West talks about “democracy” and “human rights”, but the crimes committed by European empires – like the transatlantic slave trade of millions of Africans and the French empire’s mass atrocities in Algeria – were very similar to those committed by Nazi Germany. (Ortega praised the Algerian Revolution as an inspiration for Nicaragua.)
- Haiti had the first victorious revolution in Latin America and the Caribbean. Haiti inspired Simón Bolívar, and militarily supported him, as he carried out his own anti-colonial revolution in South America. Nicaragua is inspired by Haiti’s example.
- Immediately after Spanish colonialism was defeated in Latin America, US imperialism replaced it. The US invaded Nicaragua several times, and US imperialism remains the principal threat for Latin America and the world today.
- Never forget the crimes the US committed in Nicaragua in the 1980s, when the CIA armed and trained the far-right Contra terrorists. Ortega recalled that the US-sponsored Contras also trafficked drugs, many of which ended up in US neighbourhoods.
- It was the Soviet Union and China that defeated fascism in World War Two. This year is the 80th anniversary of their heroic victory over Nazi Germany and the fascist Japanese empire.
- “We in the [Sandinista] Front were inspired by the Russian Revolution and the Chinese Revolution”, Ortega said. He praised Mao Zedong as a “great leader who is always in our thoughts.”
- Today, the People’s Republic of China and Russian Federation are friends of the Global South, helping Nicaragua and other countries to defend their sovereignty against Western imperialism.
- Capitalist Europe is now remilitarising and massively increasing its military spending on weapons because it, along with the US, wants to prepare for war against Russia and China.
- The United Nations has become a tool dominated by the Western imperialist powers, and the US uses its veto power to prevent the UN from taking any significant action (like stopping the genocide in Gaza). The UN needs a “refoundation”.
- The world desperately wants peace, so countries can economically develop and end poverty, but US imperialism is the main obstacle.
In her address, Co-President Rosario Murillo emphasised:
“Our Nicaragua, a Free Territory, a Glorious Land of Warriors of Peace, greets with Honourable Joy and Certain Hope, all the Peoples who now fighting, without surrendering, for the other World that is now indispensable, and the Delegations that represent them in this formidable Act of Commitment to Liberation, and to Fraternal, Solidarity and Shared Vocation, for the Common Good, which the Planet and Humanity so badly need.”
Introducing the head of the fraternal delegation from China, she said: “With great admiration, with much respect, and, of course, affection, we receive Compañero Ma Hui, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Glorious Communist Party of China, representing his Great and Victorious People and his Government of the People’s Republic of China.”
Ma Hui said: “It is a source of joy for me to lead the Delegation of the Communist Party of China attending the Commemoration of the 46th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Sandinista Popular Revolution, at the invitation of the Sandinista National Liberation Front of Nicaragua.
“First of all, if I may, I would like to convey the Greetings of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to Co-President Comandante Daniel Ortega and Co-President Compañera Rosario Murillo. I would also like to convey the sincere greetings of all the 100 million Members of the Communist Party of China to our Sandinista Compañeras and Compañeros and to the Heroic People of Nicaragua.”
He then read the Message of Congratulations from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to the National Council of the Sandinista National Liberation Front of Nicaragua:
“On the occasion of the 46th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Sandinista Popular Revolution, we would like to convey to you and, through you, to all the militants of the Sandinista National Liberation Front of Nicaragua, our warm congratulations.
“In a world full of transformations and turbulence, the risks and challenges faced by all countries on the planet are growing. We are pleased to note that under the leadership of Co-President Comandante Daniel Ortega and Co-President Compañera Rosario Murillo, the Nicaraguan people, closely grouped around the Sandinista National Liberation Front, firmly defend their National Sovereignty and Dignity, and persist in following the path of development adapted to the realities of their own country, constantly reaching new achievements in your socio-economic development, for which we express our congratulations.
“As a result of the restoration of diplomatic relations and the establishment of the Strategic Partnership between China and Nicaragua, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, bilateral ties have made a great leap forward from rapid resumption to comprehensive deepening.
“Based on the Memorandum of Understanding on Exchange and Cooperation between the Communist Party of China and the Sandinista National Liberation Front of Nicaragua, we carry out exchanges on our experiences of governance and administration via formal institutional interaction, in order to promote the improvement of our governance capacities and jointly address risks and challenges.
“Every day demonstrates deeper indications of our evident relationship as Comrades in Arms in the same trench, being two countries moving forward together in close solidarity. The Communist Party of China attaches great importance to its traditional friendship with the Sandinista National Liberation Front of Nicaragua, and is willing to promote our friendly cooperation, deepen mutual learning from experiences of governance and administration and promoting a deeper, pragmatic, stable and lasting development of the Strategic Partnership between China and Nicaragua, for the better benefit of both countries and both peoples.
“We take this opportunity to express our high esteem and consideration to you.”
Ma Hui’s intervention was followed by Daniel Oretega’s speech.
Referring to the Nicaraguan people’s courageous and indomitable spirit of struggle, he said:
“I would say that this strength and this steadfastness is rooted in the arrival of the first Imperialists, colonialists, who came from Europe to seize the Lands of our Ancestors, to threaten them with death if they did not get baptised, to threaten them with death if they did not hand over all their Gold. And they were sent by the Kings of Spain.
“The Spanish people are not to blame, those responsible for the outrages Europe has committed, and the European Imperialists continue to commit, and who today are talking about investing billions and millions for war, to try and destroy Russia and try and destroy China, simply because these are Nations that saved Humanity, that saved the self-same US citizens, the self-same US, English and French companies.”
Referring to this year’s 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, he continued:
“Now, exactly this year, the 80th Anniversary of the defeat of Hitler’s Nazis was commemorated, and they were defeated by the Soviet Army and by the Chinese Army, when a gigantic Revolution had then taken place in China, headed by that Great Leader who is always in our thoughts, in our Ideas, Mao Zedong.
“We, then, were young men who were already with the Frente Sandinista, inspired by the Russian Revolution and the Chinese Revolution. There have never been other major revolutions with such a great impact, such a global impact, as there were during those two Wars where China and Russia defeated Fascism.”
He stressed: “We appreciate so much the participation of the Delegations that have come from Fraternal Peoples, from Fraternal Countries, where too these Fraternal Peoples are fighting for Peace, with us here China is the greatest Power and fighting for Peace; the Russian Federation is another great Power, but it has no other option but to continue giving battle to achieve Peace, yes, but not at the cost of ceding even an inch of land to the Nazi-Fascists.
“And the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, have been very clear, they want Peace for the World, they promote Peace for the World, they promote Solidarity for the World, they promote cooperation for the world’s Peoples; that is to say, they are noble Peoples and they are not Powerful Nations wanting to be occupying Powers seeking only how to oppress, crush and enslave.
“Slavery has now been buried forever, and even with the difficult world situation, with Powers such as the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation, who make their way in search of Peace, promoting Peace, we are sure that they are Powers whom, those who are sowing terrorism around the world, have to respect.
“In the end, Peace will have to come, Peace will have to come! and all these complex, difficult, terrible situations that are being experienced, this United Nations will have to come to an end and another United Nations body will have to be created, a new United Nations, capable of being an instrument that does give security to all Nations, able to be an Instrument able to go where others are killing People, and stop those crimes.”
In an earlier speech, delivered on June 23, honouring Comandante Carlos Fonseca Amador, a key founder and first-generation leader of the Sandinista National Liberation Front, who was martyred three years before the victory of the revolution, Ortega said:
“These are times when it is clear that the most important thing to take care of is Peace, because war, violence, interventions, aggression are multiplying in a great part of our planet, and there are Regions where People are even being massacred, Peoples are being destroyed, such as the Palestinian People, a Heroic People, who continue to resist, continue to defend their Right to Life, their Right to have a Home.
“And then we hear about nuclear armaments. There were commitments in the United Nations so that there would be no nuclear weapons, but the Imperialists of the Earth, who have the capacity and the resources, to build nuclear weapons, have built them, and they do not allow other countries to build nuclear weapons.
“How they burst out in fury when the President of North Korea announced that they would not stand idly by in the face of an aggression; because they are constantly surrounded, threatened, by the weapons of the US Army.
“And the Republic of which he is President is a small nation, a small territory, the territory of Iran and the population of Iran are much more immense, there are more than 90 million inhabitants in Iran. And North Korea has been clear in saying, if we are attacked we will not hesitate to respond with the nuclear weapons that we have. Because they have nuclear weapons, they have managed to build them under difficult conditions, and that makes them untouchable.”
Referring to the 80th anniversary of the victory of fascism, he said: “Hitler was defeated by the Red Army and by the army of that Great Nation that Mao Zedong founded and where President Xi Jinping now is. Hitler was defeated by the People, the Workers, the Soldiers, of Russia and under the leadership of that Great Leader, Joseph Stalin.”
He also turned his attention to the uprisings in the United States against Donald Trump’s fascist pogroms against migrant workers:
“But there is also a rebellion by the migrants who take to the streets to protest and so they put them in prison, beat them. There in San Francisco, in Los Angeles, there is the greatest resistance. Why? First, because the President of the United States should know that this territory did not belong to the United States, this territory belonged to Mexico since its ancestors… That is Mexican territory, it is Mexican territory, and deep down, the Mexican Brothers and Sisters feel that, giving battle to defend their right to continue working. Because the police take everything from them, they put them in prison, they go searching through all the workplaces; the police, or the [National] Guard, go into a work centre and grab all the workers… They also capture mothers and separate them from their children, it is a real tragedy that is being lived in the United States, against immigrants. And this also affects US companies, because that is the labour they have available, both in agricultural work and in construction work, and work of all kinds.”
Highlighting this, as well as Trump’s ‘tariff wars’, he continued:
“These are times when humanity, having so many means, so many instruments to create conditions of Peace, Stability, Progress, Well-being, in the United States itself with all those migrants, and to offer a Policy of Cooperation with all the Countries of the World, and especially with the Developing Countries, does not do so.
“On the other hand, the People’s Republic of China does, and so they get angry when the People’s Republic of China is developing work in Africa, in Asia, in Latin America. They get angry and threaten the governments for accepting the entry of companies from the People’s Republic of China.
“So, hope lies in these Powers, such as the People’s Republic of China, which has a humane, supportive, generous attitude, and that naturally makes it easier for all countries to receive it, and that angers the US Government.”
Stressing the importance of unity in the ranks of the revolution, Ortega said: “And here in Nicaragua we continue to be united here, with the example of Carlos [Fonseca], Carlos, who gave his life for the Nicaraguan People, for the Peasants; who went into the mountains in difficult conditions when the Guerrillas were totally isolated and were being destroyed.
“And with his very thick glasses, because he suffered a myopia that made it difficult for him to see even with those glasses; but he thus took on the challenge of going to join the mountain detachment so that a meeting for Unity would take place there and that Unity would give us more Strength. And he gave his life fighting for Unity. [At this time the Sandinistas were divided into three distinct tendencies. Their reunification laid the basis for the triumph of the revolution.]
“And we must be sure that the more united we are, the stronger we will be, the more united we will be, then we will be guaranteeing peace for the Nicaraguan people. And to guarantee peace for the Nicaraguan people is to guarantee that we continue to make progress with all Social Programs to defeat poverty so that with every day that passes the conditions of Nicaraguan families improve.”
A good example of such social programs, achieved together with the internationalist support of Socialist China, came with the July 14 ceremony for the delivery of the “New Victories” Urbanisation program to the Nicaraguan government.
China’s Ambassador Chen Xi stressed that it is a joy to celebrate this award ceremony held on the eve of the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista Popular Revolution:
“I want to take this opportunity to salute the heroic Nicaraguan people, for the great successes they have conquered, during these 46 victorious years in their struggle and defensc, of the independence, dignity, sovereignty and legitimate right to development of the country and well-being of the Nicaraguan people.”
He stressed that the delivery of this project of 920 homes, with non-refundable financing from the Government of the People’s Republic of China to the Nicaraguan Government, is another example of the friendship and solidarity of the Chinese people and government to the Nicaraguan people.
Chen Xi explained that a few months after the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nicaragua, with the aim of supporting Nicaraguan socio-economic development, the Chinese government decided to grant a non-reimbursable line of financing to the Nicaraguan government.
“The latter made the decision to allocate all the financing of the Chinese government to social projects as a priority, for the neediest areas of Nicaragua, such as the improvement of urban and rural transport at the national level, the construction of ‘New Victories’ Housing, donation of anti-Covid vaccines and supplies and equipment for hospitals, donations of fertilisers for the improvement of agricultural production, donation of wheat for the nutritional program of the Nicaraguan Sandinista Government, donation of modern technological equipment, for professional training.”
He stressed that the Chinese side highly values and appreciates the Nicaraguan government’s guidance to prioritise government cooperation in social areas in support of the fight against poverty, for the benefit of the people. “The efficiency of the execution of this project, that is, the construction of 920 houses in just two years, has been an example of the excellent and fruitful cooperation between Chinese workers and Nicaraguan workers.”
He said that in total, about 70 Chinese technicians and more than 1,000 Nicaraguan technicians and workers participated in the construction of this project, providing jobs to Nicaraguan workers. And at the same time as carrying out the construction of the project, the Chinese company has given training and advice courses to Nicaraguan technicians and workers, “preparing numbers of workers for the construction area of Nicaragua, through this project, workers from both countries work harmoniously, cooperate closely and learn from each other, forging a deep friendship and brotherhood between our two peoples.”
Retired General Óscar Mojica, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI), affirmed that this emblematic project marks a milestone in the history of Nicaragua, “since 920 homes have never been delivered together and at the same time in the entire history of our country and represents a historic milestone due to the bilateral relationship of the Chinese Government with the Government of Nicaragua, which day by day is strengthened in their strategic partnership.”
He recalled that this first phase of the “Nuevas Victorias” Urbanisation, in addition to the 920 completed homes, which contribute to transforming the lives of thousands of Nicaraguan families, include nine thousand metere of paved streets, 1,500 metres of pedestrian platforms, two bridges to enhance the mobility of the inhabitants, 7,614 metres of drinking water and sanitary sewerage networks, and a modern electrical network that includes solar lights in the 211 public lighting poles and the 920 home metres, a park for family recreation, two sports fields for the integral and healthy development of youth and an outdoor gym with 18 machines installed. He also said that by September the construction of the 720 new homes could begin, as part of the Second Phase of the “New Victories” Urbanisation.
“These benefits are the result of articulated work, close work, solidarity and cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Nicaragua. We have really established fraternal, solid bonds, built on the basis of respect and on the basis of trust, we are sharing values and a better future, for our peoples; in this sense, the vision and strategic action of our Co-Presidents Commander Daniel Ortega and Comrade Rosario Murillo, aim to create a community of shared future.”
Comrade Laureano Ortega Murillo, Presidential Advisor for the Promotion of Investment, Trade and International Cooperation, said that this is a historic day of joy for Nicaragua, where this first great project of China’s solidarity cooperation with Nicaragua is consolidated.
“On behalf of the Co-Presidents, Commander Daniel Ortega and Comrade Rosario Murillo, I convey my greetings and deep gratitude to the President of the People’s Republic of China, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping. We want to thank you for this act of love for Nicaragua, of solidarity, of appreciation, of brotherhood. Today we are reaffirming once again the special, fraternal, affectionate brotherhood, cemented in historical ties between our parties of the people and government of China and the Nicaraguan people with our Government of the Sandinista National Liberation Front.
“Here we are on the eve of the celebrations of our Sandinista Popular Revolution, fulfilling the current Sandinista Popular Revolution for the Nicaraguan people, advancing in victories with these programs that directly benefit thousands of Nicaraguan families and that bring the peoples of Nicaragua and China closer together.
“We want to reiterate this very special relationship that exists between Nicaragua and China, which should serve as an example for all the peoples of the world. I have been traveling to Nicaragua since 1986 and I loved it so much that I attempted to slow down a train full of ammunition bound for Nicaragua. But the train didn’t stop. I was expecting to spend a year in jail, but instead they decided to kill me.
I consider that this Revolution is incredibly unique and a Point of Reference to follow, for everyone.
I am grateful for the honor of being invited to offer a few words of mine. You did all the work, allowing me, as an elderly man, 84 years old, to enjoy the fruits of the Revolution.
I hope other people from the US will come here to learn from the Revolution. The Gringos are unaware of these Struggles, just as I was unaware of them when I went to Vietnam.
It is amazing how you have withstood all the pressure of the United States, their interventions against your sovereignty. Congratulations on your tenacity.

Beloved Compañero Daniel Ortega,
I congratulate you on the Forty-sixth Anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution.
The contemporary history of Nicaragua, the struggle of Nicaragua for its Sovereignty and Independence, the current days and current achievements of Nicaragua, are inseparably linked to your name. And your personal contribution deserves great respect in relation to our International Cooperation.
I wish you, and all the Citizens of Nicaragua, very strong Health, Peace, Prosperity, and all the very best.
Beloved Compañera Co-President Rosario Murillo, I congratulate you on the 46th Anniversary of the Sandinista Popular Revolution. It is not only an opportunity for me to admire the deeds of Heroes of the Past; it is also an opportunity to sense the Unity of the People; it is a chance to be able to touch the Future. Because, in front of us in this Plaza are those who will move forward into the Future with the Banner of Victory.
Under the leadership of our President Vladimir Putin, Russia fully supports those who defend their Freedom, their Values, their Children, their Future.

It is a source of joy for me to lead the Delegation of the Communist Party of China attending the Commemoration of the 46th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Sandinista Popular Revolution, at the invitation of the Sandinista National Liberation Front of Nicaragua.
First of all, if I may, I would like to convey the Greetings of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to Co-President Comandante Daniel Ortega and Co-President Compañera Rosario Murillo.
I would also like to convey the sincere greetings of all the 100 million Members of the Communist Party of China to our Sandinista Compañeras and Compañeros and to the Heroic People of Nicaragua.

Next, let me read the Message of Congratulations from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to the National Council of the Sandinista National Liberation Front of Nicaragua.
On the occasion of the 46th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Sandinista Popular Revolution, we would like to convey to you and, through you, to all the militants of the Sandinista Liberation Front of Nicaragua, our warm congratulations.
In a world full of transformations and turbulence, the risks and challenges faced by all countries on the planet are growing. We are pleased to note that under the leadership of Co-President Comandante Daniel Ortega and Co-President Compañera Rosario Murillo, the Nicaraguan people, closely grouped around the Sandinista National Liberation Front, firmly defends their National Sovereignty and Dignity, and persists in following the path of development adapted to the realities of their own country, constantly reaching new achievements in your socio-economic development, for which we express our congratulations.
As a result of the restoration of diplomatic relations and the establishment of the Strategic Partnership between China and Nicaragua, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, bilateral ties have made a great leap forward from rapid resumption to comprehensive deepening.
Based on the Memorandum of Understanding on Exchange and Cooperation between the Communist Party of China and the Sandinista National Liberation Front of Nicaragua, we carry out exchanges on our experiences of governance and administration via formal institutional interaction, in order to promote the improvement of our governance capacities and jointly address risks and challenges.
Every day demonstrates deeper indications of our evident relationship as Comrades in Arms in the same trench, being two countries moving forward together in close solidarity.

We are all Daniel here. Tod@s. From the youngest boy or girl, to the young men and women who are now older, and let’s not talk about the People any more, we are all Daniel… We are all Daniel! That is why, it should occur to no one that at some other stage of our history some other Nicaraguan will come along who may not have the Thought, the Commitment, the Principle which we have inherited.
You compañeras and compañeros, me as well, we have inherited that Principle and we carry it in our Heart, in our Conscience, and it is the Principle that our General Sandino bequeathed to us here, in our Heart, in our Soul, when he told the Yankees: I neither surrender nor sell out, I neither sell out nor do I surrender! This is a People with a really amazing, fantastic history.
I would say that this strength and this steadfastness is rooted in the arrival of the first Imperialists, colonialists, who came from Europe to seize the Lands of our Ancestors, to threaten them with death if they did not get baptized, to threaten them with death if they did not hand over all their Gold. And they were sent by the Kings of Spain.
The Spanish people are not to blame, those responsible for the outrages Europe has committed, and the European Imperialists continue to commit, and who today are talking about investing billions and millions for war, to try and destroy Russia and try and destroy China, simply because these are Nations that saved Humanity, that saved the self-same US citizens, the self-same US, English and French companies.
Everyone who wanted to, in the Second World War had proposed to end that federation, Russia, along with all those who were gathered together, together for Well-being, together for Progress. But capitalist Europe, Imperialist Europe has always had quarrels and hatreds among themselves, wars among themselves.
Napoleon, who was supposed to be the greatest military strategist in Europe, began taking over the other European countries, and installed his brother as President of Spain, and so he went about putting in place Rulers all over Europe. And later, well, he considered that then with that dominance he would have an Army so powerful that it was going to go all over Russia, and they organized that war against Russia. And he went against Russia, Napoleon…
Napoleon thought that, with all the weaponry he had, with all the great Army he had, with all the alliances he had with other European Empires, it was going to be a short run getting to Moscow, but he did not count on the strategy of the Russian military.
So then, knowing the enormous distance from France to the main Russian cities, he thought he would be able to guarantee supplies, food, ammunition, weapons, because he thought that the Russian people were a people who had no courage, who had no valor, and who would surrender easily.
So the offensive against Russia was launched, by Napoleon; but a Russian General suggested to the General Staff that there should be no resistance, that they should be allowed to advance, advance, advance, and when they had already made their advanced and were having difficulties with supplies and also with the cold weather that begins at that time of year, Napoleon’s great geniuses had not calculated for that, and when they saw that they met no resistance, that they were advancing, advancing, advancing, they felt victorious, but suddenly they did meet resistance and Winter had already begun, and they could no longer withstand Winter and had to retreat.
This was the first major defeat that Russia dealt to the European Imperialists. They were beaten, unwilling to organize another expedition.
Now, exactly this year, the 80th Anniversary of the defeat of Hitler’s Nazis was commemorated, and they were defeated by the Soviet Army and by the Chinese Army, when a gigantic Revolution had then taken place in China, headed by that Great Leader who is always in our thoughts, in our Ideas, Mao Tse-Tung.
We, then, were young men who were already with the Frente Sandinista, inspired by the Russian Revolution and the Chinese Revolution. There have never been other major revolutions with such a great impact, such a global impact, as there were during those two Wars where China and Russia defeated Fascism.Back then Hitler was already preparing an atomic bomb with his scientists, they had not yet been able to build the atomic bomb, when Hitler was bombing England every day, but he wanted the atomic bomb, because with the atomic bomb he would not need to send so many flights with many small bombs, but with a couple of atomic bombs he would completely destroy England.
And then too Hitler also wanted to use the bomb to drop on Russia but, in the end, when they were just about to finish that notorious atomic bomb, came the defeat of Fascism, the defeat of Nazism.
Fascism and Nazism have their roots in Europe, Europe that prides itself on being Democratic, that prides itself on supposedly respecting Human Rights, but all Europe has done is to fight among themselves, to take over Africa, to take over Asia, and colonize African nations and costing millions of victims.
The struggle waged by France, for example, France wanting to retain its hold on Algeria after they had it dominated for a long time, spending a lot of money, and causing a great number of dead also, because in that fighting the Algerians were great Combatants.
In the end, Algeria defeated France and today is a Free People whose Representative accompanies us. He is the Minister, imagine, if only there were time for our young people to meet with the Minister of Combatants, he is a Minister of the Combatants of Algeria.
In other words, they have a lot to contribute to ensure that all these young people, these young women and men have the strength, have the energy to never ever surrender or sell out, to develop more knowledge tso as to be able to defend Nicaragua, in the face of the constant attempts that continually take place to attack Nicaragua, to invade Nicaragua.
Nicaragua and Central America gained their independence from Spain in 1821. Several factors were combined here. The Spanish had a powerful army and they had dominated the entire Region, from Mexico all the way to the South; but then Simón Bolívar was the one who knew how to look ahead, knew how to organize and knew how to give the battle, until he defeated the powerful Spanish Army.
And see how Life is, what Life is, by how people refer to Haiti now in these Times, how Haiti has been mistreated in these Times. When no country in Latin America and the Caribbean had become independent, none had been able to become independent from the Spanish, from the French, Haiti was the first to defeat the French and expel them from Haiti.
The leaders of the struggle in Haiti, with great Solidarity, gave Bolívar support, because Bolívar did not have many resources, but he arrived in Haiti and they received him very well, and gave him weapons, gave him boats.
Later, Bolívar evolved and grew in resources until he turned his Army into the most powerful Army in the Region, and that was fundamental for the Independence of Central America, the defeat of the Spanish by Bolívar. That is, Venezuela was there, Colombia was there, several Countries were united so as to form that Army of Liberation, and they managed to overcome.
Meanwhile, in Central America and Mexico there were a few rebellions, in Nicaragua, in El Salvador, in Guatemala, but the Spanish had more dominion over these Countries, since they were much smaller nations. But when the Spanish Empire was defeated in South America, headed in that Battle by Bolívar, then the pro-independence positions in Central America, in Mexico, gained strength and so Central America became independent in the year 1821.
But at the time of Independence there were still traitors, quislings, who did not want to accept Independence; or else they said: OK, then, we have become independent, but let’s go and join the Iturbide Empire, which was an Empire the Spanish had left in Mexico to try and look for ways of keeping some control over Central America.
I mention all this because what should never be forgotten in our personal lives, in our family life, our life as a People, is our History, the Past should never be forgotten. Because, by looking to the Past, we learn to defend ourselves, because we can discover the great mistakes, the great betrayals that were committed in those periods and which allowed, first, with the arrival of the Spanish, who, as I said, threatened, in fact, that if people refused to take Communion, then they had the Mandate of their Saints and their Monarchs, to kill those Indigenous Brothers and Sisters, Human Beings.
All of us have Indigenous Blood, yes, we all do some maybe more, some less, and we have to be proud of having that Indigenous Blood and likewise be proud of our Miskito Communities, the Ramas, the Garifuna, all the Communities there on the Coast, in the Northern Region and the Southern Region of the Caribbean.
Of course, the Europeans have been racist and have transmitted that racism to their peoples. That’s why the Europeans calmly began to turn the Brothers and Sisters of Africa into animals; they captured Families, Parents, everyone, took them to markets offering them for sale to the Europeans to buy, turning them into slaves.
And a slave is not someone whom as they used to say before, was a servant or an employee… No! A slave had no right to Life when he was sold to a European Family; when they were sold to North American Families to use as slaves, they had every right to kill them if they felt they were no longer of use to them.
These are crimes that we cannot forget, that we must not forget, especially when these crimes are being repeated in these times when there is so much talk about Human Rights, when there is so much talk about Democracy.
These crimes they are committing against the Palestinian People, murdering thousands of Children, thousands of Mothers, entire Families; totally destroying the places they inhabited; destroying hospitals destroying them with patients inside, with doctors inside.
That’s why, Brothers and Sisters, we have to strengthen our network of communication, and here is the Compañera President of TELESUR, Patricia Villegas, and in TELESUR we have a starting point so as to be able to raise consciousness of these crimes that are being committed, and the fact that they provoke protests, as protests are indeed being made, even in the United States itself, against the Jewish Government.
And that is no more nor less than a plan, by the Jewish government, concocted with the Yankee government and with the complicity also of the European governments, namely, to disappear the Palestinian State, is to disappear it, as they have said it very clearly, they have said it openly. They are self-confessed criminals! There they are, armed, given weapons by the Europeans, by the United States, because they want to take over the whole Region, and they are doing it as calm as you like.
They are murdering every day! Even media in the United States or in Europe are now beginning to report the crimes. And what does the United Nations do? The United Nations is nothing but an instrument of the imperialist countries, of those Countries which want to dominate the world, even if the World itself disappears, with the risk of Humanity disappearing, because they have no qualms about bombing everywhere.
We have already seen how they launched the armed provocation, via a plan put together by the United States and the Zionists to bomb Iran, on the pretext that what the Iranians were working on were atomic weapons. Iran is a huge nation, it used to be the Persian Empire, it has a population of 90 million inhabitants, it has great wealth, undertakes a great deal of work, with a lot of resources.
And the Iranians, complying with the United Nations standards, had presented a plan so as to work the uranium and use it in peaceful activities. Because it turns out that they have done so for some time and that’s why they have many plants generating nuclear energy with uranium, which are plants to produce energy, to produce electricity and it turns out to be cheaper and safer than the plants that are installed via traditional networks.
Of course, who has had the capacity to build these plants? The richest countries; but when a Country appears, which defends its Sovereignty and its History, a Country that does not surrender, and goes to the United Nations, presenting their Plan, which is a Plan to develop facilities, because they want to have nuclear energy generating plants, not nuclear bombs, not nuclear missiles.
So, there is an Agency called the IAEA at the United Nations, which is in charge of approving that, in charge of monitoring such programs so they comply with what has been certified there. And the arrangement was that our Persian Brothers and sisters were to start to work and every 3 months, 4 months, the people from the IAEA would arrive to see if they were in compliance.
That is to say, they had them under surveillance, they were certifying them, and the IAEA certified that everything was going well, and that there were no indications that they were arming nuclear bombs, or nuclear missiles; but, for the rulers of Israel, for the military power of Israel, and in particular for the United States and the Europeans, that could not be. And that is why they organized the attack, every day bombing, bombing.
The last straw was that then the Yankees arrived with their big bombs, dropping their big bombs in those places where they said nuclear bombs were being manufactured, and in sum that they had bombed, causing damage and destruction, but there was no sign of radiation. Because if there had been radiation there, with that bombardment, radiation would have begun to spread throughout the region and to other regions, and such radiation kills, producing diseases, nuclear radiation is terrible.
And what has the United Nations done? What is the United Nations doing to stop the destruction of the Palestinian People? What is it doing? What does the United Nations do when the US rulers launch fierce persecution against Latin American immigrants? And they not only persecute them to expel them, but they persecute and imprison them.
And precisely today, July 19th, how glad we are that, today, President Nicolás Maduro, with intelligence, with firmness, without despairing, managed to get 254 Venezuelan Brothers and Sisters who had been sent into detention by the US rulers, to return home, to Venezuela, given the war they are now waging against immigrants.
That is to say, the US government has sworn it is not going to leave any migrants, and they are going to run out of workers there, because migrants are the ones who do all the hardest work in the US, and US companies are complaining against the government, because they are starting to lose money.
We give a fraternal embrace to the 254 Venezuelan Brothers and Sisters who are now with their Families, and we offer all our affection and all our love to all those children who have managed to be recovered, who had been separated from their Mothers in the United States, where the children are caged, and their mothers are put in prison, but now the children are with their mothers in Venezuela. Look at such crimes, and what does the United Nations say? What does the United Nations do?
The United Nations was created after the Second World War, as if it was going to be a serious Body which was going to try and give security to all Peoples, to all Nations, to see that all the Rules were met. But every day that passes we are faced with so many criminal acts and many more that we could mention, criminal acts committed by European governments, by the US government, crimes which are there in plain sight.
On the other hand, the NATO countries are spending billions to go to war against Russia, and in that way they give military support to the Fascists of Ukraine.
Look at how the world is doing, the world is experiencing moments as critical as those that have been experienced in previous wars, even, since what is happening is that NATO is preparing for war. For what? To attack Russia. Why? Because the NATO countries defend the Fascists who imposed themselves via a coup in Ukraine.
That’s why we can say, how right Father Miguel d’Escoto was when he was President over the United Nations, and that he stated: The United Nations is no longer good for anything. It needs to be refounded! And to refound it means that this United Nations should disappear.
But the powerful are united there, those who have nuclear power are united there, they unite together, and they do not want others to have nuclear power. Ideally, and I am sure that Countries that have nuclear weapons would accept this, they would accept it if all atomic weapons would disappear, be removed, I am sure.
I was telling you, really, no one gives way here! Right? No one gives way here! Or am I already wearing you all out? We are going to conclude now, with some data.
You can see, Nicaragua and Central America became independent from Spain in 1821, but, of course, more than 200 years of Spanish domination had already passed and some of the languages of our Original Peoples in whom we have our roots managed to survive, and with the Revolution we have given them more encouragement, more reinforcement, so that classes are given in Spanish and in the languages of the Miskito Community, Rama Key, and Higher Education Projects are also developed for them… That is, in communities that had been totally forgotten.
Then also we have something that is really extraordinary, we have built in record time a highway which for the first time, via a concrete road, links the Pacific Region with the Caribbean Region. That is a Miracle and that has only been possible because of the cooperation of Fraternal Nations, Fraternal Peoples, and thanks to the working capacity of the Institutions that are building these Roads, that are building Hospitals, that are building Schools, that are multiplying Housing everywhere. You can see this every day, every day you can see it.
As I was telling you, in 1821 came Independence, in 1821 we became independent and in 1855, imagine, the Yankees fell on us, William Walker invaded us, coming to take over the San Juan River and work with US companies on passenger traffic from the East Coast to the West Coast of the United States.
Because that was a period when there was a Gold Rush and everyone who was on the East Coast, where there was no Gold, when the news came to them that, on the West Coast, San Francisco, the area of Los Angeles, that there were large quantities of Gold there, that people were extracting Gold everywhere there; then thousands of Americans began to embark on that journey.
Cornelius Vanderbilt, a shipping entrepreneur, came up with the idea of putting into operation, and he did put it into operation, for passengers to leave from New York, and they arrived from New York to the coast of Nicaragua; since they were large ships that brought a lot of passengers, they had smaller ships there waiting and then they sailed across with those ships so as to arrive in the area of San Juan del Sur, where the strip of land is small.
There, the stagecoaches of the shipping company were waiting for them, they would get on, go the short distance in the stagecoaches, to where other big ships were waiting to take them to the West Coast where the Gold was. That became known as the Transit Route.
And take note that this caused conflicts to start in the United States among the shipping companies and they hired a group of Officers, Soldiers, Yankees, mercenaries, to support one of those companies. And the mercenaries came in the year 1855 and started fighting. And who was paying the mercenaries? The other shipping company. And the other company whom did they work with here in Nicaragua? There were two governments: one in León and one in Granada.
So, one of the governments had to be eliminated, and in the end, the head of the expedition, William Walker, was elected President of Nicaragua. How many people will know in the world that Nicaragua had a Yankee President recognized by the State Department? And that this Yankee President appointed a Priest as his Ambassador, and that the Priest went to present his Credentials to Washington, and they were received there.
But if you take a good look, some Nicaraguans sold out, but not all of them did, there were some who, faced with that outrage, what they did was arm themselves with rifles albeit of less capacity than those brought by the Yankees, which were of higher quality. These Nicaraguans got together with the Indian archers from Matagalpa, and they were the Nicaraguans, who neither surrendered nor sold out, and they put up a fight defeating the invading Yankee. I would say that this is the first defeat the invading Yankees had here in this entire Region.
But they continued to be obsessed with invading Nicaragua once, twice, overthrowing governments. And thus we have all our Heroes, in the Battle of San Jacinto the Hero who stands out most is Andrés Castro, when he lifted the stone and cast it at the Yankee, and knocked him down. That is to say, he was not afraid of the Yankee coming at him with a rifle, but he came, grabbed the stone, since he did not have a rifle, and cast the stone and knocked the Yankee down. And that Battle was decisive, led by General José Dolores Estrada.
Then came the other invasions, invasions by the English, the English wanted to take over Nicaragua too, as did the Germans, and they formed expeditions with famous Admirals, but they defeated them, they always defeated them.
The Nicaraguans who had already forged themselves through the mixture of indigenous and Spanish blood was now defending Nicaragua. Because, what would have happened in Nicaragua, imagine, if the English came and swept out the Spaniards, and finished sweeping out the Nicaraguans too?
So, the Nicaraguans are then beginning to defend their indigenous-Spanish identity, that’s why Darío knows so well how to describe that mixture, and the achievements, the Human Strength of those Families, those Nicaraguans who gave Battle at San Jacinto and who were reinforced by the Indian archers, who had no Spanish blood, but 100% indigenous blood, but as Good Patriots, Brave Heroes, they gave battle there to defeat the invading Yankee. I must now conclude with these data that are incredible, incredible!
When the Yankees invaded Nicaragua in 1855, and were defeated by the Nicaraguans who would neither surrender, nor sell out, by José Dolores Estrada, Andrés Castro and the Indian archers, in that year Nicaragua had a population of 214,000 inhabitants, you see, we were a tiny people, invaded by a Country, the United States of North America, which, in that year, 1855, already had a population of 27 million inhabitants. 27 million against 200,000 Nicaraguans, and it wasn’t 200,000, it was fewer those who fought, because others betrayed us.
Then in the year 1912, which is when the Yankees carried out their coup against Zelaya, Nicaragua had a population of 554,000 inhabitants, and the United States had a population of 95.3 million inhabitants. I mean, it’s amazing how a country with such a population, the United States was already then a Power.
Then, in 1926, when the Yankees invaded Nicaragua, at that time Nicaragua had a population of 687,000 inhabitants, the United States then had a population of 117 million inhabitants; that is to say, we did not reach even a million people and they already had 117 million, well armed, the US was a great Power.
That’s when the battle with Sandino was being fought, and they couldn’t defeat Sandino, even though they brought aviation, they brought troops, they continuously brought more troops; it was 7 or 8 eight years of war, but they couldn’t prevails and had to withdraw, they were defeated in Nicaragua.
Then in 1980 there was the war, after the Triumph in 1979, but the Yankees continued the war, a war that was contested, when even the President of the United States said that he too was a Contra, and he sought funds so as to give weapons, training and everything to the Counterrevolution, who were sent to train there to the United States and also to train some military bases they had installed in Honduras. He gave tremendous armament… Just imagine!
In the year 1980, the war began and lasted 10 years, many of you participated as “Cub troops”, yes, I’m sure some of you were “Cubs”, and the “Cubs” were those young men who neither sold out nor surrendered and who knew how to defend the Nation
10 years of war, and Reagan even resorted to working with drug traffickers so as to give the Contras weapons, it was a scandal back in the United States, but nothing happened as a result. But they couldn’t prevail, yes, they couldn’t defeat the Sandinista Army, they couldn’t defeat the “cubs” and it was another defeat for Imperialism, and another victory for the Nicaraguan people.
So, beloved young men and women, our beloved Young People, we have Peace, but that does not mean that the enemy is resting, the enemy is always plotting, he is always trying to provoke bloodshed, trying to provoke pain, grief, suffering, in Nicaragua’s Families, because some people think they can overthrow the Revolution because they have the support of the Imperialists of the Earth.
That’s why we have to always keep up with all the tasks that we have to fulfill, via study, preparation, work in different activities, without neglecting anything, there in the place where we are working, there in the neighborhood where we are at work, without neglecting Revolutionary Vigilance, such that there is no space left for terrorists, conspirators, sellouts, because they will know that as soon as they are discovered, they will be captured and prosecuted.
We appreciate so much the participation of the Delegations that have come from Fraternal Peoples, from Fraternal Countries, where too these Fraternal Peoples are fighting for Peace, with us here China is the greatest Power and fighting for Peace; the Russian Federation is another great Power, but it has no other option but to continue giving battle to achieve Peace, yes, but not at the cost of ceding even an inch of land to the Nazi-Fascists.
And the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, have been very clear, they want Peace for the World, they promote Peace for the World, they promote Solidarity for the World, they promote cooperation for the world’s Peoples; that is to say, they are noble Peoples and they are not Powerful Nations wanting to be occupying Powers seeking only how to oppress, crush and enslave.
Slavery has now been buried forever, and even with the difficult world situation, with Powers such as the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation, who make their way in search of Peace, promoting Peace, we are sure that they are Powers whom, those who are sowing terrorism around the world, have to respect.
In the end, Peace will have to come, Peace will have to come! and all these complex, difficult, terrible situations that are being experienced, this United Nations will have to come to an end and another United Nations body will have to be created, a new United Nations, capable of being an instruments that does give security to all Nations, able to be an Instrument able to go where others are killing People, and stop those crimes.
We, of course will continue to fight here for Latin American and Caribbean Unity, we have to continue fighting for Latin American and Caribbean Unity; continue fighting to strengthen ALBA, the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our America, and working together as close as we can, despite whatever differences we may have.
As small countries we are especially obliged to get closer, to improve the living conditions of our Peoples; otherwise, simply, if there is no rapprochement, if there is no dialogue, if there is no respect for the Agreements we reach, then simply some lose out more than others; we all lose, but some lose more than others. And we are here not for anyone to lose, but because all the Central American, Latin American and Caribbean Countries have managed to unite in the struggle for Peace, for Unity for the Well-being of our Peoples, ending Poverty.

Always the 19th… And Always Further! We leave the Plaza now, and tomorrow when we wake up, we keep fighting, we keep fighting, and we keep advancing against Poverty!
Our People, who inspire us, who engage us… All the Triumphs are from the People! Every Anniversary, each Anniversary is a date of Remembrance, a date to bear in mind, to value, appreciate and know that it is the Heroism of the Nicaraguan People that allows us to go one, from July to July, conquering the Future that we all deserve.
I have felt in these days of Celebration, great Pride in our People, in our Youth and also in those of Eternal Youth… Pride in all that we have managed to grow, Pride in all that we are, Pride in all that we advance every day, and pride, above all, in our unyielding Conviction. We are a People of Principles, of Values, of Convictions, and that distinguishes us, and inspires the World: The Courage, the Heroism, the Conviction and the Principles of our People.
We feel blessed to be part of this People of ours, and I believe that our main Strength is our Faith, our Values. We know what we are, we know what we can do and we know that we are Victorious, Conquerors of any and every form of Death, because we have in our Soul the Christian Conviction and the Spirit of the Socialism, of Brother and Sisterhood and Solidarity.

Reading of Presidential Agreement No. 74-2025
A very good afternoon to everyone. Very good afternoon to the beloved Nicaraguan Families who are watching us on Channel 6.
The Presidential Agreement that we are going to announce this afternoon is number 74-2025, and it states as follows,
Considering:
That the Chief of the Police Forces of the Republic of Nicaragua, First Commissioner General Francisco Javier Díaz Madriz, on the basis of Article 13, Numerals 19 and 25 of Law No. 872, “Law on Organization, Functions, Career and Special Social Security Regime of the National Police”, issued on May 23rd 2025, the Provision No. 005-2025, proposing Promotions in the Rank of General Commissioners, to strengthen the Institutional Command of the National Police.
- That Article 125, paragraph 10, of the Political Constitution empowers the Presidency of the Republic to grant the Rank of Commissioner General.
And, 3. That the Presidency of the Republic recognizing the Merits, Achievements and Advances of the Members of our National Police and the Institution working with Nicaragua’s Families guaranteeing Citizen Security in all its aspects.
Using of the powers conferred on them by the Political Constitution, Agrees :
- To promote to the Rank of General Commissioner the Commissioners Major: Mauricio Lenin Soza Robelo, Álvaro José Pérez Marenco, Oscar José Alemán Márquez and Esteban Antonio Torrez Rocha.
- The Rank of Commissioners General will be imposed in Solemn Ceremony when the Presidency of the Republic, Supreme Head of the National Police, so provides. That is, today, June 23rd.
- The Presidential Agreement No. 37-2025 of February 27th 2025, published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette No. 41 of March 3rd 2025.
- This Agreement takes effect as of this date, and is to be published in La Gaceta, Official Journal.

Good evening, Brothers and Sisters, families of Nicaragua, today, on this day in which we commemorate our brother Carlos, Carlos Fonseca, on the day of his birth, while he is in another space, but he is present here. Present among the Nicaraguan People, Present in the Soul of the Peasants, the Workers, Nicaragua’s Youth, Present in the Spirit of Struggle to defend Peace, the Police and the Army.
These are times when it is clear that the most important thing to take care of is Peace, because war, violence, interventions, aggression are multiplying in a great part of our planet, and there are Regions where People are even being massacred, Peoples are being destroyed, such as the Palestinian People, a Heroic People, who continue to resist, continue to defend their Right to Life, their Right to have a Home.
And then we hear about nuclear armaments. Nuclear armaments are a weapon, there were commitments in the United Nations so that there would be no nuclear weapons, but the Imperialists of the Earth, who have the capacity and the resources, to build nuclear weapons, have built them, and they do not allow other countries to build nuclear weapons.
How they burst out in fury when the President of North Korea announced that they would not stand idly by in the face of an aggression; because they are constantly surrounded, threatened, by the weapons of the US Army.
And the Republic of which he is President is a small nation, a small territory, the territory of Iran and the population of Iran are much more immense, there are more than 90 million inhabitants in Iran. And North Korea has been clear in saying, if we are attacked we will not hesitate to respond with the nuclear weapons that we have. Because they have nuclear weapons, they have managed to build them under difficult conditions, and that makes them untouchable.
That is to say, it seems that in the World so that no Country can be attacked, sanctioned, invaded, bombed, every country should have nuclear weapons, nuclear missiles, such that no one would dare, no one would dare mount an attack, an aggression. But the way forward is not to multiply nuclear weapons in the world.
We have declared Latin America a Zone of Peace and also one free of this type of weaponry, and the challenge that humanity has, the challenge that the Imperialists of the Earth have, above all, is to start destroying their nuclear weapons.
Only by disappearing nuclear weapons can there be Peace and Security in the World; otherwise, all peoples are threatened and blackmailed when an imperialist Power dares to launch bombings, when a Country is not at war, to destroy the laboratories that were working on in Iran, under the inspection of the International Organization of the United Nations.
For what? To make sure that Iran’s Program was a Program, as they have explained, of development in the nuclear field, but for peaceful uses. Because in many Countries there are Nuclear Energy Plants and they are very safe, very stable and the cost is also the lowest when it comes to generating electricity, and that’s what they were inspecting there.
And after they launched the bombs on the points where the laboratories were supposed to be, it turns out that all this is theater; because the President who orders the rockets to be launched does so in order to help the Government of Israel. Because at the same time, the Government of Israel, which has nuclear weapons, does not accept to be inspected, and no one inspects it.
And what is the United Nations for after all? What is the United Nations for? Nothing at all! Nothing at all! Because no matter how much people talk at the United Nations about reaching agreements at the United Nations, they are not fulfilled. Ah, but if the Agreement is to attack a country, then that one is indeed fulfilled. If the Agreement is to invade, bomb, destroy Libya, that Agreement is fulfilled, as when they assassinated our Brother Muammar Gaddafi.
But when the majority Agreements there demand that the blockade of Cuba be suspended after 63 years, in a vote where practically everyone votes in favor of suspending the blockade of Cuba; there are two, three countries, Israel and the United States, that do not agree, they vote against.
It is of no use that the vast majority of the Peoples of the world vote there in favor of suspending the blockade on Cuba, because simply nothing happens there, and the blockade instead is intensified, and that causes suffering for the People of Cuba, a Heroic People, the People of Martí, the People of Fidel, of Raúl, of our Brother Díaz-Canel at the front, fighting a Heroic, a Heroic, a truly Heroic Battle.
It is a brutal blockade, where they are left without Energy, they are left without the ability to acquire spare parts to be able to put the power plants to work. A total, brutal blockade! And what do the United Nations say? They vote, everyone votes there, everyone votes, but there are no conditions there, in the United Nations, for what the United Nations or its Agencies vote for to be fulfilled.
The United States owes us many millions in compensation after the war imposed on us by President Ronald Reagan, which caused thousands of deaths here in Nicaragua, murdered young men and women, peasants, humble working people. Armed and trained by the United States, funded by the United States.
It was from ‘79 to ‘90 an uninterrupted war, which was fought from the heart really, because we were a Revolution that had an Army and a Police Force, that they were only getting organized when the onslaught of the Yankee Empire began.
And we went to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, which is an Instrument of the United Nations, such that what the Court says is supposed to be fulfilled. And the Court ruled condemning the United States for terrorist activities against the Nicaraguan people, and ordered them to pay compensation. And to this date they have not paid compensation.
That is to say, it is becoming clearer every day that there are a number of Organizations in the United Nations that serve no more than as instruments of Empire, to choke the throat, the neck, of those Peoples who are fighting for Sovereignty, for Well-being, for Peace, and that, all the rest is theater, total theater, as if mocking the world’s Peoples.
Father Miguel d’Escoto, when he was president of the United Nations on behalf of Nicaragua, he raised a Proposal there, a Banner, that the UN had to be rebuilt, that it would have to be refounded… Refounded… what does that mean? It means doing away with the foundations, with the foundations that the United Nations has right now, that those who maintain those foundations are the world’s prevailing Powers.
So it would be necessary to take that power away from those Powers, such that the power may be given to all Peoples, to all Nations, and so in that way then the United Nations would make sense.
The United Nations is simply a mockery to the world’s Peoples, a mockery to humanity. The United Nations should disappear, disappear completely! And that presents the challenge of building with the foundations of the world’s Peoples, with the Strength of all Peoples, of all Nations, a League of Nations in which the Imperialists of the Earth will doubtless not want to join; because they want International Institutions at their service, drawing up Resolutions to punish, assassinate, attack, those Peoples who defend their Sovereignty, defend their Right to Prosperity, to Well-being.
These are times that are not new in the history of humanity, they are not new, involving the powerful, the Imperialists of all times. It is enough to remember that two World Wars originated in Europe, and that the Second War, led by the Nazis, by Hitler, who was going all over Europe, and was going to take over the world and disappear those citizens who did not have the Aryan gene in their blood, because they said that those who were not Aryan had to disappear, had to go to the gas chamber.
That is, if they had come to dominate these Nations, these Peoples, well, off to the gas chamber, simply because they are brown, let alone black. To the gas chamber. Because for them it was only the Aryan race that counted.
And in order to dominate all of Europe and beyond, they launched themselves against Russia, and Russia faced up to them, defeated them. And this year has been a year for celebrating one more anniversary of the defeat of Nazism.
Hitler had his scientists, not to build nuclear missiles, because at that time nuclear weapons were not known, but to build nuclear bombs; they had their scientists working hard there, and he was sure that with nuclear bombs being launched everywhere there would be no Country and Nation that would not surrender.
Well, Hitler was defeated by the Red Army and by the army of that Great Nation that Mao Tse-Tung founded and where President Xi Jinping now is. Hitler was defeated by the People, the Workers, the Soldiers, of Russia and under the leadership of that Great Leader, Joseph Stalin.
Stalin managed to defeat the Nazis, and immediately after the defeat of the Nazis, the US ran to find German scientists to take them to work the bomb. This was in ’45, after the war was over, they took them to the United States, and together with US scientists, well, they made some little bombs there. The war had already passed, it was already over.
And in the year 1945, in the first days of August, they decided to go and test the bombs, at that time there were no missiles, they had to carry the bombs, loading them on the planes and then dropping them on the targets. They had targeted two Cities in Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Anniversary is coming now in August. There they dropped the nuclear bombs, the first and only nuclear bombs that have been exploded on any population in all history.
Another one who is tempted to drop nuclear bombs is the current President of the United States, although he talks about Peace, however on the other hand he issues threats.
But the only two atomic bombs that have been exploded in the world, the United States exploded them, and there were 325,000 killed with those bombs.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not military targets, and there part the population was left, a part of the population was killed, and the population that was not killed was contaminated by radiation, and children began to suffer from cancer and thousands of diseases, adults too, and many people began to die from radiation. And to this day still in Hiroshima and Nagasaki there remains proof, the living traces of descendants of families who are affected by radiation.
And it is incredible to listen to the Imperialists of the Earth, who do not condemn these facts, they do not condemn them; rather, the Europeans have rushed to find how to arm themselves with missiles. Ah, it seems they have that right.
If it occurred to us to look for a few missiles so that they wouldn’t touch us, although nobody touches us here anymore with missiles, that’s just how it is. But it does not occur to us, because we are not Peoples to fall into the game and the use of nuclear armament.
No one even knows how this war started by Israel will end. From one day to the next it launched attacks against Iran, with the story that in Iran they were operating those laboratories, but which were of Nuclear Energy for peaceful purposes. They said no, they were for nuclear missiles. And the specialists of Agencies that have visited them, who have gone to inspect the places, said that there was no sign that they were there building bombs or missiles, but that it was for peaceful purposes.
But Israel, which has nuclear missiles, doesn’t even want to think that Iran can have them, because it already imagines that Iran is going to launch missiles at them; so it has preferred to start attacking Iran first. It does not launch the nuclear missiles, because it knows that if they launch those missiles, Israel would be committing a crime and falling into a crime that would be condemned,since no government wants to support them in launching nuclear missiles, with nuclear material.
So, what Israel did was to start a war of attrition and persist in attacking, attacking, attacking, attacking, attacking… This was obviously done in agreement with the US government.
To the degree that they attacked, Iran also responded, that is, the law gives them the right to defense; the attacks started from Israel every day, then Iran had to start responding to them as well. And Israel began feeling how the bombs coming from Iran through these modern devices, modern instruments of war, were causing them a lot of damage, so they told the U.S. government to go on and finish off the places where the missiles were being worked on in Iran.
And they did, in the end they set out and organized an operation with a number of planes and bombed the sites, effectively, where the laboratories were. When they bombed the places where the laboratories were, nothing happened, because if there had been uranium there, it would immediately reproduce a thousand times what the Chernobyl accident was, it starts spreading, carried by the winds, and that contaminates with radiation and kills thousands of people for as far as the wind carries it; floating there, but nothing of that happened.
The US government says that they have now destroyed the laboratories, but, on the other hand, it is now known that the laboratories had long ago moved elsewhere, because the Iranians knew that what could come. So, in a way that’s a tragicomedy, but really it’s a tragedy, it puts the people of the region in terror, and, on the other hand, they put the world in terror too, and they say they are doing it for Peace.
So, after he had fulfilled the commitment to the Israelis, not to the People of Israel, to the Government, because the People of Israel are a noble People and suffer with all this; when he fulfilled his commitment to the Government of Israel, murderer of the Palestinian People, then the President of the United States came out saying that the problem was already solved, because he had already finished it, and that he had already reached Agreements with the Government of Iran for Peace.
But here is a piece of information where Iran contradicts Trump, because Trump came out saying, as if, I have now complied, I have disrupted them now; so now already let’s cease-fire… The man of peace! But no one pays attention to him there, Netanyahu, the executioner of the Palestinian people, has more power because he continues to launch his explosive devices against Iran.
Of course, Iran has to respond to these attacks as well; and Iran, what has it said? Let Israel cease fire, and we’ll cease fire. Then there would really be conditions to seek understanding and to seek the restoration of Peace in that entire Region.
So far, the truth is that it is difficult to believe the President of the United States, because he constantly says one thing, then says another. Well, those are his characteristics.
On the other hand, he is against our Peoples, against the Peoples of our entire Region, the Peoples of Africa, Asia, etc., who have emigrated to the United States, where they have made a family, where they have been given residence, why? Because they are the fundamental workforce allowing this Empire to be sustained economically.
And they are persecuting them, they are hunting them down, they are putting them in prison, because they say they are all bandits, they are all criminals, that they are murderers. How many barbarities has he not said about the Mexican Brothers and Sisters and all the Latin American Brothers and Sisters, as well, bandits he says, murderers, and they are persecuting them.
But there is also a rebellion by the migrants who take to the streets to protest and so they put them in prison, beat them. There in San Francisco, in Los Angeles, there is the greatest resistance. Why? First, because the President of the United States should know that this territory did not belong to the United States, this territory belonged to Mexico since its ancestors.
And then when the emigrants arrived in the United States, they came from England, they came from Europe, and they began to take over the lands of the indigenous Communities in the United States, then they also fell to that entire Region of San Francisco and Los Angeles.
That is Mexican territory, it is Mexican territory, and deep down, the Mexican Brothers and Sisters feel that, giving battle to defend their right to continue working. Because the police take everything from them, they put them in prison, they go searching through all the workplaces; the police, or the Guard, go into a work center and grab all the workers.
They make no difference there, they grab them and take them away, and then, if a worker who is really a US citizen appears, they release them; but if the others are not from the US , they go to prison and wait to be deported.
They also capture mothers and separate them from their children, it is a real tragedy that is being lived in the United States, against immigrants. And this also affects US companies, because that is the labor they have available, both in agricultural work and in construction work, and work of all kinds.
But there is a persecution without going through lawful procedures, they care little about the Law, he simply decides, this is to be done, and that is to be done. And the judges say no, but he cares very little and goes straight ahead.
Well, that’s causing enormous damage to the United States.
And then, the first thing he did was to order to increase tariffs on all Countries in the world, and there are discussions, lawsuits, even with the European community which has been their instrument via NATO, there too they are looking for how to negotiate.
That is to say, these are times when humanity, having so many means, so many instruments to create conditions of Peace, Stability, Progress, Well-being, in the United States itself with all those migrants, and to offer a Policy of Cooperation with all the Countries of the World, and especially with the Developing Countries, does not do so.
On the other hand, the People’s Republic of China does, and so they get angry when the People’s Republic of China is developing work in Africa, in Asia, in Latin America. They get angry and threaten the governments for accepting the entry of companies from the People’s Republic of China.
So, hope lies in these Powers, such as the People’s Republic of China, which has a humane, supportive, generous attitude, and that naturally makes it easier for all countries to receive it, and that angers them US Government.
The same thing happens with the Russian Federation, where the Russian Federation comes along and offers cooperation, including cooperation in the field of security, because the Russian Federation has installed a Center here to combat crime, drug trafficking.
It has now been established here in Nicaragua for 12 years, it is a School and they manage it; it is Russian Military Specialists who work at that School, and they have it open for the whole Region and beyond. And from different Central American Countries they come to this School to take courses. The US doesn’t like that.
The most important thing, I think, in these difficult times for so many Peoples, the most important thing is that we have to continue insisting on and make binding the Consciousness that leads us to a defense of Sovereignty and leads us to work for Peace. Because if there is peace, we can work making progress for the benefit of the People. Work of all kinds that I am not going to list today, because we would be here till daybreak, but public works that are multiplying and reaching the most distant places of our Country.
Faced with these tribulations provoked by the Imperialists of the Earth, the aggression, well, we bet on Peace… Hopefully, hopefully, the Government of Israel will stop attacking Iran, and then Iran will of course cease fire, and other conditions would open up to be able to reach an Agreement now.
The Israelis didn’t want those laboratories in Iran? President Trump has now said that he disappeared them with the bombings he ordered. So where is there, let’s say, the brake on things? The brake is the Government of Israel, the Government, not the People of Israel, the Government of Israel, which is the instrument that the Imperialists of the Earth are using to set about seizing the entire region.
Because it is not only Palestine, they want to take over all those Peoples where there is great wealth, minerals, oil, everything, they want to take over the whole region, without measuring the consequences. Because taking over the whole region is simply not possible, because there are Peoples with History, Brave Peoples,
Peoples who have fought, Peoples who have suffered, millions of people, in their struggle against the colonialists.
And here in Nicaragua we continue to be united here, with the example of Carlos, Carlos, who gave his life for the Nicaraguan People, for the Peasants; who went into the mountains in difficult conditions when the Guerrillas were totally isolated and were being destroyed.
And with his very thick glasses, because he suffered a myopia that made it difficult for him to see even with those glasses; but he thus took on the challenge of going to join the mountain detachment so that a meeting for Unity would take place there and that Unity would give us more Strength. And he gave his life fighting for Unity.
And in that aspect this is a fundamental point for all of us Nicaraguans, for Youth, for Workers, for the Army, for the Police, Unity, Unity! Because the skills of the enemy look for ways to make us susceptible to sowing distrust, sowing division, speak ill of each other, and so to then cause fractures.
And we must be sure that the more united we are, the stronger we will be, the more united we will be, then we will be guaranteeing peace for the Nicaraguan people. And to guarantee peace for the Nicaraguan people is to guarantee that we continue to make progress with all Social Programs to defeat poverty so that with every day that passes the conditions of Nicaraguan families improve.
The mission of the People, of all the Institutions, and the fundamental support so this Mission can be developed, where are they? In the Police, in the Army, in the Ministry of the Interior, they are there, and they are administering the measures that we have been taking to avoid so many deaths.
We have to keep track of when we started applying these measures which we are taking to avoid deaths, accidents, on the roads, on the streets our towns. What the average was that we had before, and now we have to take the average from that date, let about 15 more days pass and let’s see.
Because here this about saving Lives, and it is about getting us to understand that just because we like to speed, we all like to speed, that’s the truth; but how many deaths there are every day, and how much suffering in the Families of those who pass away.

More victories for the people of Nicaragua! The People’s Republic of China delivers the ‘New Victories’ housing development.
June 14 (El Digital) — In order to promote brotherhood, peace, prosperity, security, and well-being, on Monday, 14 July, the People’s Republic of China held a ceremony to hand over the ‘Nuevas Victorias’ housing development to the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity.
The ceremony was presided over by Comrade Laureano Ortega Murillo, Presidential Advisor for the Promotion of Investment, Trade and International Cooperation; Retired General Óscar Mojica, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure; the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nicaragua, Chen Xi; Comrade Gabriela Lorena Palacios Vidaurre, Co-Director of the Institute of Urban and Rural Housing (INVUR); and the Mayor of Managua, Reyna Rueda.
With the inauguration of this first phase of the ‘Nuevas Victorias’ programme, 920 homes were handed over, benefiting more than 4,000 people.
The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nicaragua, Chen Xi, emphasised that it is a joy to celebrate this ceremony on the eve of the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista Popular Revolution.
‘I would like to take this opportunity to salute the heroic Nicaraguan people for the great successes they have achieved during these 46 victorious years in their struggle and defence of the independence, dignity, sovereignty and legitimate right to development of the country and the well-being of the Nicaraguan people,’ he said.
He emphasised that the delivery of this ambitious project of 920 homes, with non-repayable financing from the Government of the People’s Republic of China to the Nicaraguan Government, is another example of the friendship and solidarity of the Chinese people and government towards the Nicaraguan people.
Ambassador Chen Xi explained that a few months after the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nicaragua, with the aim of supporting Nicaragua’s socio-economic development, the Chinese government decided to grant a non-repayable line of financing to the Nicaraguan government.
“The latter decided to prioritise all Chinese government funding for social projects in the most needy areas of Nicaragua, such as improving urban and rural transport nationwide, the construction of “Nuevas Victorias” housing, the donation of Covid vaccines and supplies and equipment for hospitals, donations of fertilisers to improve agricultural production, the donation of wheat for the Nicaraguan Sandinista government’s nutrition programme, and the donation of modern technological equipment for professional training,” he said.
He mentioned that the Chinese side highly values and appreciates the Nicaraguan government’s focus on prioritising government cooperation in social areas in support of the fight against poverty, for the benefit of the people.
Ambassador Chen Xi pointed out that both governments are also studying and planning other projects with the same focus.
‘The efficiency with which this project was carried out, that is, the construction of 920 homes in just two years, has been an example of the excellent and fruitful cooperation between Chinese and Nicaraguan workers,’ he added.
Ambassador Chen Xi said that a total of about 70 Chinese technicians and more than 1,000 Nicaraguan technicians and workers participated in the construction of this project, providing jobs for Nicaraguan workers.
He assured that while carrying out the construction of the project, the Chinese company has provided training and advice to Nicaraguan technicians and workers, ‘preparing large numbers of workers for the construction sector in Nicaragua. Through this project, workers from both countries work harmoniously, cooperate closely and learn from each other, forging a deep friendship and brotherhood between our two peoples.’
The Ambassador noted that these comfortable, safe homes, designed by the Nicaraguan government, will benefit more families in a short period of time.
Housing delivery marks a milestone in Nicaragua’s history
Retired General Óscar Mojica, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI), said that ‘on behalf of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity led by our Co-Presidents, Commander Daniel Ortega and Compañera Rosario Murillo, we are present at this ceremony for the handover by the Government of the People’s Republic of China to the people and Government of Nicaragua’.
He stated that this flagship project marks a milestone in Nicaragua’s history, ‘as never before have 920 homes been delivered together and at the same time in the history of our country, and it represents a historic milestone in the bilateral relationship between the Chinese Government and the Nicaraguan Government, which is growing stronger every day in its strategic partnership.’
The head of the MTI shared that on 27 April 2022, they signed the agreement for the implementation of this magnificent social housing programme, and on 16 April 2023, the ceremony to mark the start of construction of these houses was held.
“Following the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Nicaragua and China in December 2021, the process of cooperation in the housing sector began. On 24 January 2022, the government presented the Chinese government with a proposal for a social housing construction programme with the cooperation of the People’s Republic of China in Nicaragua, and on 27 April 2022, they signed the agreement for the implementation of this magnificent social housing programme, with the aim of continuing our government’s fight against poverty and also with the aim of improving the living conditions of 12,034 families in 15 departments, 2 autonomous regions and 84 municipalities in our country,” he said.
A development with all services and amenities
He recalled that this first phase of the ‘Nuevas Victorias’ development, in addition to the 920 completed homes, which are helping to transform the lives of thousands of Nicaraguan families, includes 9,000 metres of paved streets, 1,500 metres of pedestrian pavements, two internal bridges for the mobility of residents, 7,614 metres of drinking water and sanitary sewer networks, and a modern electrical network that includes solar lighting on 211 streetlights and 920 residential meters, 1 park for family recreation, 2 sports fields for the comprehensive and healthy development of youth, and an outdoor gym with 18 machines installed.
The head of the MTI emphasised that in this way, they continue to fulfil their commitment to provide Nicaraguan families with the right to live in peace, security, dignity and prosperity.
He also said that construction of the 720 new homes could begin in September, as part of Phase II of the ‘Nuevas Victorias’ urban development.
“These benefits are the result of coordinated efforts, close collaboration, and solidarity between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Nicaragua. We have truly established fraternal, solid ties, built on the basis of respect and trust. We are sharing values and a better future for our peoples. In this sense, the vision and strategic action of our Co-Presidents, Commander Daniel Ortega and Comrade Rosario Murillo, aim to create a community with a shared future,” he added.
Solidarity cooperation: Fundamental pillars of China’s cooperation with Nicaragua
Comrade Laureano Ortega Murillo, Presidential Advisor for the Promotion of Investment, Trade and International Cooperation, said that this is a historic and joyful day for Nicaragua, where this first major project of solidarity cooperation between China and Nicaragua is being consolidated.
“On behalf of the Co-Presidents, Commander Daniel Ortega and Comrade Rosario Murillo, I convey our greetings and deep gratitude to the President of the People’s Republic of China, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping. We want to thank you for this act of love towards Nicaragua, of solidarity, of appreciation, of brotherhood. Today we are reaffirming once again the special, fraternal, affectionate brotherhood, cemented by historical ties between our parties of the people and government of China and the Nicaraguan people with our Government of the Sandinista National Liberation Front,” he said.
He recalled that in 2023 they were at this site, laying the first stone for this flagship project of China’s solidarity cooperation with Nicaragua.
‘Here we are on the eve of the celebrations of our Sandinista Popular Revolution, fulfilling our commitment to the Nicaraguan people, the ongoing Sandinista Popular Revolution, advancing in victories with these programmes that directly benefit thousands of Nicaraguan families and bring the peoples of Nicaragua and China closer together,’ he emphasised.
The Presidential Advisor for Investment Promotion mentioned that solidarity cooperation is one of the fundamental pillars of China’s cooperation with Nicaragua.
“We want to reiterate this special relationship between Nicaragua and China, which should serve as an example for all peoples of the world. China is a large country, developing with great technological and economic advances, and Nicaragua is a country that is still working to eradicate poverty, following China’s example and moving towards full development, equal treatment, and treatment as brothers. These solidarity cooperation programmes, as the ambassador has said, non-reimbursable cooperation, donations for our Nicaraguan people, are based on no conditions whatsoever, simply with the clear objective that the projects must be for the benefit of our peoples,” he said.
Comrade Laureano reiterated that this ‘Nuevas Victorias’ housing programme is part of the major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, the Global Development Initiative.
In his words, he said that in the coming weeks, homes will be delivered to Nicaraguan families, moving steadily towards the second phase, ‘then the third, fourth and fifth phases, because this is a comprehensive programme that will have a national scope, and for that we are grateful to the People’s Republic of China, the China International Development Cooperation Agency and the Chinese companies that have been participating in this project.’
At the end, he mentioned that on the eve of the 46th anniversary of the Sandinista Popular Revolution, we are full of vigour and strength to move forward with more programmes and projects with the People’s Republic of China.
During this event, in addition to presenting a video showing the project’s implementation process, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Chen Xi, handed over the keys to the ‘Nuevas Victorias’ housing development to comrade Laureano Ortega Murillo, before taking a tour of the site.
