Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held an important telephone call with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty on December 16 at the latter’s request.
Wang Yi said that the two sides should take the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt next year as an opportunity to firmly support each other, deepen practical cooperation, strengthen coordination in multilateral affairs, elevate the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level, help the Global South jointly advance modernisation and make new contributions from China and Egypt to world peace and development. China will host the second China-Arab States Summit next year. Egypt is an important member of the Arab world, and China is ready to enhance communication with Egypt to ensure the complete success of the summit. The Chinese side welcomes Egyptian leaders to China for the great event.
Badr Abdelatty briefed Wang Yi on the latest developments in the situation in Gaza, expressing Egypt’s high appreciation for China’s important proposals on resolving the Palestinian question and its announcement of a new round of assistance to Palestine. Egypt supports China in playing an important role in restoring peace and advancing reconstruction in Gaza.
Wang Yi said that the Gaza conflict has lasted for more than two years, claiming the lives of over 70,000 Palestinian civilians, and that this grave humanitarian catastrophe must be brought to an end. The current ceasefire remains fragile and the outlook is still worrying, which warrants close attention from all parties. The core is to prevent a resumption of hostilities and a repeat of the tragedy. Post-conflict governance in Gaza must be considered in conjunction with a comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian question. The principle of “Palestinians governing Palestine” must be upheld. Gaza’s future and destiny should be in the hands of the Palestinian people themselves.
He added that President Xi Jinping’s announcement of a new round of Chinese assistance to Palestine is aimed at easing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and supporting the recovery and reconstruction in Gaza.
The call took place immediately after Wang Yi had concluded visits to three Arab countries in West Asia. He visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from December 12-13, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on December 14, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from December 14-15. In each country a joint press release was issued on Wang’s talks with his local counterpart.
In Abu Dhabi, the UAE voiced support for China in hosting the second China-Arab States Summit in 2026, and for the concurrent convening of the second China-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit and expressed its willingness to work with China to ensure the complete success of the summits. The Chinese side expressed its readiness to work with the UAE to promote the early conclusion of negotiations on the China-GCC Free Trade Agreement.
Both sides reaffirmed their joint commitment to achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the two-State solution, and to establishing, in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions, an independent State of Palestine.
They also agreed to strengthen communication and coordination on multilateral platforms such as the UN, BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and to jointly work toward greater prosperity and progress in the world.
Both China and Saudi Arabia noted that the visit coincided with the 35th anniversary of their establishment of diplomatic relations. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have shared aligned visions and bilateral relations have made significant progress, jointly benefiting the friendly peoples of both countries.
China expressed support for Saudi Arabia’s efforts to develop and enhance relations with Iran and commended the Saudi Arabian side for its leading role and efforts in achieving regional and international security and stability.
China also spoke highly of Saudi Arabia’s economic development achievements within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030, and appreciated the outcomes of the first China-Arab States Summit held in Saudi Arabia in December 2022. The Saudi Arabian side expressed support for China’s hosting of the second China-Arab States Summit and the second China-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit in 2026. China will participate in the World Expo to be hosted by Saudi Arabia in 2030.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern and expressed willingness to strengthen communication and coordination. Both sides emphasized support for efforts to promote a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian question in accordance with the principle of the two-State solution, relevant United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, with the establishment of an independent State of Palestine based on the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In Jordan, the two sides discussed the regional situation, and the developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Both sides emphasised the need to achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire in Gaza and to ensure urgent, immediate, and sustainable access to aid to address the humanitarian crisis. Both sides stressed that the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement should be combined with genuine political efforts aimed at establishing a sovereign and independent State of Palestine based on the June 4, 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.
Jordan highly appreciates President Xi Jinping’s initiatives and proposals for resolving the Palestinian question as well as his announcement of a new batch of aid to Palestine. China appreciates the efforts made by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to achieve regional security and stability, as well as the tremendous efforts made for humanitarian aid in Gaza and affirms the importance of the historic custodianship of the Hashemite family over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Both sides emphasised that the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum has served as a comprehensive platform for active interaction between China and Arab countries, with a growing significance over the years. Jordan supports China in hosting the second China-Arab States Summit in 2026.

Joint Press Release on the Talks between the Foreign Ministers of the People’s Republic of China and the United Arab Emirates
December 15 (MFA) – At the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi visited the UAE from December 12 to 13, 2025. Wang Yi and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan had in-depth exchanges of views on the overall development of friendly relations between the two countries and their peoples, as well as on issues of common concern.
Both sides noted that the China-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership has registered positive progress across various fields, meeting the expectations of the leaders of the two countries and the two peoples for development and prosperity. The two sides will implement the important common understandings reached during President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to China and meeting with President Xi Jinping in May 2024, and work together to elevate bilateral relations across all fields and at both bilateral and multilateral levels to a new height.
The Chinese side voiced its firm support for the UAE in safeguarding national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
The UAE stressed its firm adherence to the one-China principle, noting that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. It also expressed firm support for the Chinese government in achieving national reunification, and voiced its opposition to external interference in China’s internal affairs.
The Chinese side backed the UAE’s efforts to peacefully resolve the issue over the three islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa through bilateral negotiations in accordance with the norms of international law, including the United Nations (UN) Charter.
The Chinese side spoke highly of the UAE’s development achievements in various fields, and expressed its readiness to further synergize the Belt and Road Initiative with the UAE’s “We the UAE 2031” vision and the “Principles of the 50”, so as to jointly promote development to higher levels. The UAE spoke highly of the successful convening of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, believing that this important session will boost China’s high-quality development and mutually beneficial cooperation within the international community.

The two sides expressed readiness to continue dialogue and coordination, and expand cooperation, so as to achieve the goals of both countries’ development policies.
The two sides discussed deepening bilateral cooperation in traditional areas such as economy and trade, infrastructure, energy, defense, transportation, and the judiciary sector, exploring potential for cooperation in new areas including scientific and technological innovation, telecommunication technology, digital economy, artificial intelligence, and green energy, and expanding cooperation and communication in culture, tourism, journalism, education and student exchanges, and think tanks.
